Services

The Town of LaFollette elected officials and staff are dedicated to serving our community.  We maintain the town's roads as well as remove snow to help ensure the safety of our residents and visitors.

Town Services

Road Maintenance

The town is responsible for routine maintenance on our 44 miles of road.  On a rotational basis, we will be resurfacing town roads.  The 2021 schedule will be posted after the first of the year.

Snow Removal

The town is responsible for 44 miles of township roads.  The roads will be plowed as soon after the snow storm has ended as safely possible.  If conditions permit, we will begin snow removal before the storm ends.  To ensure the safety of our road maintenance personnel and our equipment, snow removal will be done during daylight hours.  Should an emergency arise, please call 911, explain your situation, and we will be contacted by the county dispatcher to assist with removal during the emergency.

The town no longer offers snow removal services for private driveways, lanes or roads.  Please contact a local snow removal service to clear your property.

Road Right-of -Way Maintenance

The Town of LaFollette is responsible for maintaining not just the roadway but also the Right-of-Way (Wis. Stat. 82.03 and 893.83).  Most town roads have a 66 foot easement (i.e., 33 feet from the center line of the road on both sides of the road).  Most town roads are 20 feet wide with a 2 foot shoulder on each side.  The town is responsible ensuring the remainder of the Right-of-Way is clear of trees, brush and will mow the grass.

We have undertaken the maintenance of the Right-of-Way for the town's roads, including mowing the grass, brush  and tree limb removal and where necessary tree removal.  Prior to removing trees, the town will contact the property owner informing them of which trees will be removed and to obtain the disposition of any lumber resulting from the tree removal process.

2021 Road work

Culbertson Road Grinding and Grading

Starting on July 6, 2021, the we will be grinding and grading Culbertson Road from Viola Lake Road south approximately 1.1 miles (i.e., approximately 200 feet beyond the curve south of Warner Lake Road). In addition, we will be grinding and grading approximately 0.1 miles of Viola Lake Road from Culbertson Road to the town line (i.e., new blacktop). We will also be grinding and grading approximately 500 feet of Larrabee Subdivision Road from Culbertson Rd north. The grinding and grading will be completed by the end of summer. The roads will receive a new layer of blacktop in the future.

Culbertson Road Culvert Replacement

Starting on July13, 2021, we will be replacing five (5) culverts on Culbertson Road.  The road will be closed intermittently to through traffic during the replacement process.  We expect the replacement process to be completed by the end of July. Please obey the closed roads signs.
